ISRM Expands to Sri Lanka with New Chapter and Chair Appointment

Dr Amjad Mohamed Saleem F.ISRM has been appointed Chair of the newly established ISRM Sri Lanka Chapter.

With a career spanning peacebuilding, humanitarian response, development and strategic risk, he brings a practical and people-focused perspective to the ISRM community. His work has been shaped by experience across field engagement, policy and academia, including his current role as Deputy Director of the Centre for the Study of Wicked Problems (ISRM think tank).

Throughout his career, he has worked with organisations including the IFRC, International Alert, the Commonwealth Foundation and Muslim Aid, focusing on youth engagement, inclusion, interfaith dialogue and conflict resolution.

He holds a PhD from the University of Exeter, an MBA from Manipal Global Nxt University and an M.Eng from Imperial College London.

The ISRM Sri Lanka Chapter was formally launched in Colombo on 8th June 2026, bringing together professionals from academia, government, policy and practice to explore the evolving role of strategic risk and crisis management in strengthening resilience.

The Chapter will become part of the emerging ISRM South Asia Hub, alongside Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh, supporting collaboration and knowledge exchange across the region.

Dr Amjad will lead the Sri Lanka Chapter as it strengthens its role within the wider ISRM network.
