Navigating Indonesia’s Evolving Risk Environment: Terrorism, Crime and Strategic Resilience

Risk environments are constantly evolving. Technological disruption, shifting social dynamics and increasingly interconnected threats are changing the way organisations, governments and communities understand and prepare for uncertainty.

The Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM) in ASEAN will bring together experts from academia, security and strategic risk management for a discussion exploring Indonesia’s changing risk landscape and the approaches needed to strengthen resilience in an increasingly complex environment.

Indonesia continues to face a range of interconnected challenges, from terrorism and transnational crime to the impact of technology, artificial intelligence and social polarisation. Understanding how these risks interact is essential for developing effective strategies and building stronger, more adaptable organisations and communities.

The webinar will feature insights from:

  • Noor Huda Ismail, Visiting Fellow, RSIS, NTU Singapore
  • Dr Zora A. Sukabdi, Head, Terrorism Studies Program, Graduate School, Universitas Indonesia
  • R. Rakyan Adibrata, Government Relations Manager, Kresna Strategic Pty. Ltd. (Australia) and Member, Law and Human Rights Commission, Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)

The session will be moderated by John Herzog., ISRM Indonesia Chapter Chair and Ian Leonard Betts, Senior Advisor, ISRM.

Through expert perspectives and interactive discussion, participants will explore current trends in terrorism, crime and radicalisation, the role of technology and artificial intelligence in addressing emerging security challenges and practical approaches to strengthening resilience and preparedness.

As risks become more interconnected, collaboration and shared learning remain essential. This webinar provides an opportunity for professionals across sectors to exchange knowledge, explore new perspectives and contribute to the wider conversation on strategic risk management and resilience.
