The Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM), through its Mediterranean Chapter, continued to strengthen its presence within the Greek professional and academic community by supporting two significant events that brought together leaders from business, government, academia and industry: the 16th Annual Capital Link Sustainability Forum and FM Day 2026.
These engagements reflect the ISRM’s commitment to promoting resilience, strategic risk management, sustainability and cross-sector collaboration in an increasingly complex global environment.
Advancing the Sustainability and Resilience Agenda at the Capital Link Sustainability Forum
The 16th Annual Capital Link Sustainability Forum, held in Athens on May 26th gathered senior representatives from the public and private sectors to discuss the future of sustainable development, ESG integration and responsible governance.
Representing the ISRM Mediterranean Chapter, Kleoniki Theodoridou, Director of Publications, and Christina Alexandropoulou F.ISRM, Co-Chair of the Mediterranean Chapter, participated in the Forum and contributed to discussions highlighting the growing convergence between sustainability and strategic risk management.
In her contribution to the Sustainability Guidebook 2026, Alexandropoulou emphasized that sustainability can no longer be viewed independently from resilience. Organisations today must develop the capability to anticipate, adapt and respond to emerging risks while simultaneously creating long-term value.
She further highlighted that ESG integration should extend beyond compliance requirements and become a catalyst for informed decision-making, effective governance and sustainable growth. Particular emphasis was placed on the Mediterranean region, where geopolitical developments, climate-related risks and socio-economic challenges continue to reinforce the need for stronger collaboration between public institutions, private enterprises and civil society.
The Forum provided an important platform for exchanging ideas on how sustainability, governance and resilience can be integrated into strategic planning and organisational leadership.
Supporting the Development of the Facility Management Profession
Shortly after the Sustainability Forum, the ISRM was proud to support FM Day 2026, organised by IFMA Greece and Boussias Events at the OTE Academy in Athens on May 29th.
As an official supporting organisation, the ISRM participated in a conference that brought together leading professionals from across Europe and the Middle East to discuss the evolving role of Facility Management and its contribution to organisational performance, resilience and business continuity.
A particular highlight was the panel discussion entitled:
“The Invisible Value of Facility Management: What Organisations Still Underestimate.”
The session featured Christina Alexandropoulou, Board Member of IFMA Greece and Co-Chair of the ISRM Mediterranean Chapter, alongside George Farlekas, CEO of Manifest, under the moderation of business journalist Panagiotis Marketos.
The discussion explored how Facility Management extends far beyond building operations and maintenance. Speakers highlighted the strategic role that facility professionals play in organisational resilience, employee wellbeing, operational continuity, security, sustainability and crisis preparedness.
Throughout the Conference, both Christina Alexandropoulou and Kleoniki Theodoridou met with guests, government officials and international speakers and shared insights on resilience by design, crisis readiness, digital transformation, data centres, diversity and inclusion, and the future of workplace management.
Building Bridges Between Disciplines
The participation of the ISRM in both events demonstrates the increasingly interconnected nature of sustainability, risk management, resilience, governance and operational leadership.
Whether discussing ESG strategy at the Capital Link Sustainability Forum or the strategic importance of Facility Management at FM Day 2026, a common theme emerged: organisations that successfully navigate uncertainty are those that adopt a holistic approach to risk, resilience and long-term value creation.
The ISRM Mediterranean Chapter remains committed to supporting professional dialogue, knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration throughout the region, helping organisations strengthen their capacity to address the complex challenges of today’s rapidly evolving risk landscape.
As the pace of change accelerates, forums such as these play a vital role in bringing together diverse perspectives and fostering the partnerships required to build more resilient institutions, businesses and communities.
