ISRM Global Journal Released: Risk and Resilience Through the Lens of Star Wars

In a galaxy not so far away, where “everything is under control” is rarely followed by good news, the latest issue of the ISRM Global Journal has landed.

This special themed edition brought together practitioners, academics and thought leaders from across the ISRM global community to explore how organisations understand and respond to risk, leadership and resilience through one of the most recognisable storytelling universes ever created.

Edited by Dr Paul Johnston, the journal is built around a simple idea: narrative can help make complex risk and resilience topics more accessible and engaging, without losing their seriousness.

Across 23 articles, contributors explore how organisations navigate uncertainty—from strategic choices and institutional failure to psychological safety, supply chains and adaptive leadership. Together, they reflect on what happens when even the best-laid plans meet a world where conditions rarely stay under control for long.

Released on Star Wars Day, the edition reminds us that risk management is not only about frameworks and compliance, but also about mindset, leadership and responding when conditions change faster than expected—sometimes with an unexpected “hyperdrive malfunction”.
