Recent events in the Middle East have confirmed the concept of our global infrastructure as a highly connected and inter-dependent series of networks. The disruption of the Strait of Hormuz, impacting on the global oil supply chain which in turn affects a multiplicity of sectors, has caused significant impacts on the cost of living, basic food products and the ability of businesses to adequately plan for future activities.
We are all feeling those impacts, but it is in the less developed parts of the world where they are felt most acutely. This is an opportunity explore the secondary and tertiary impacts of the disruptions in a way that makes sense of what might seem a random and chaotic series of events.
