Trusted communications are the backbone of effective crisis management. However, emerging capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) are beginning to erode this foundation. From large-scale disinformation campaigns to fraud, impersonation and cyber intrusions, the malicious use of AI poses growing threats across both public and private sectors.
This session will explore how these criminal uses of AI are evolving, what risks they create for law enforcement and crisis managers, and how practitioners can prepare to meet them.
Speakers – Changlin Li – Executive Director, AI Safety Awareness Project. Changlin began his career at the Systemized Intelligence Lab at Bridgewater Associates, later became a founding engineer at Vowel.com (now acquired by Zapier), and has studied formal verification of software and modern AI safety at the Recurse Center in New York City. He holds an A.B. in Mathematics with a Secondary Concentration in Comparative Religion from Harvard University.
Moderator – Don Zoufal – President of CrowZnest Consulting, Inc., supporting law enforcement and security clients in adopting emerging technologies. Don has held senior roles in public safety and legal positions for the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois, holds a Master’s in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and serves as AI Subcommittee Chair for the IACP Technology Committee.
This session will provide insights into the evolving risks of criminal AI and how law enforcement and crisis management professionals can strengthen trust, resilience and response in a rapidly changing digital environment.
