The Launch of the First ISRM University Chapter at the Gloucestershire Business School
We are delighted to announce the launch of the first The Institute of Strategic Risk Management University Chapter at the Gloucestershire Business School. The launch event on Wednesday 1st February 2023 started with an inaugural lecture by Dr David Rubens, Executive Director of the Institute of Strategic Risk Management (ISRM). Dr Rubens spoke on “Chaos and Complexity – Modelling Crisis Management in the 2020s”, providing thought-provoking insights into the challenges facing the modern world as a result of climate change, hyper-urbanisation, political conflict and the recent Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasised the pivotal role of universities in transforming future approaches towards education, organisational leadership and policymaking.
The vision of the Chapter is to build a community that enables students to become part of the local, regional and multi-stakeholder dialogue on current issues in risk and crisis management. The Chapter allows them to participate in knowledge and information exchange through webinars and networking events. It also provides opportunities to share and publish academic work with peers, academics and professionals, and a platform for developing their personal networks. Established at the end of last year, the Chapter was awarded the ISRM Initiative of the Year Award 2022.
