The recent success of the Strategic Resilience: Mastering Business Continuity in a Complex World symposium, held at the Workday offices in Dublin on Friday, 13th September, brought immense pride to all involved. The event, organized by the ISRM Ireland Chapter, was a showcase of insightful presentations and critical discussions around resilience and continuity in the modern business landscape.
Garry Bergin, as the Chair of the ISRM Ireland Chapter, expresed a great pleasure to witness such rich exchanges of ideas. Special thanks are owed to the esteemed speakers - Paul Cuttle, John Brophy and Zsuzsanna Bencsics - whose expertise and experience brought invaluable perspectives to the symposium. Paul Cuttle's focus on business continuity within SMEs, John Brophy's emphasis on the importance of training in building resilience, and Zsuzsanna Bencsics's presentation on ensuring safe passage from Ukraine during the conflict were particularly thought-provoking and inspiring. The diversity of thought and depth of knowledge shared by these professionals highlighted the strength of the ISRM community.
A heartfelt thanks was also extended to Vice Chair Paul Kellett for his tireless efforts in co-creating the tabletop exercise. His dedication and the significant time he invested in the project resulted in an engaging and practical exercise, which sparked robust conversations and tested the strategic resilience of participants in a realistic scenario.
Gratitude was expressed to all attendees, who traveled from near and far to contribute to the event’s success. Their commitment to resilience and strategic risk management continues to drive progress within the community. Together, everyone left more prepared and better equipped to navigate the complexities of today’s business environment.
Finally, a special thank you went out to the host, Finbarr McCarthy from Workday, for providing a welcoming and psychologically safe space for professionals to grow, engage in robust conversations, and explore meaningful topics.
