ECPD - 6th Silk Road Academic Studies 2023 Symposium

We are excited to announce the highly anticipated 6th Silk Road Academic Studies Symposium, organized by the European Center for Peace and Development (ECPD) United Nations University for Peace. This multidisciplinary event, taking place on June 1-2, 2023, in Belgrade, Serbia, will delve into the captivating world of the Silk Road - a historical nexus of informational, cultural, and ideological exchange that shaped civilizations from the East to the West.

Dr David Rubens, Executive Director of the ISRM, will be one of the featured speakers, giving a presentation on "The Silk Road: The First Super-Information Highway."

The symposium timings are as follows:

  • June 1st, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (GMT+2)
  • June 2nd, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM (GMT+2)

 

Dr Rubens’s lecture will take place on June 2 nd in the 15.00-16.30 Belgrade / 14.00-15.30 BST session.

The symposium will explore a wide range of topics such as "Developing World Views Through Cultural Exchange" and "European Cultures on the Silk Roads at the Turn of the 19th into 20thCentury: A Contrastive Analysis of Pierre Loti's Works." This symposium embraces a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing the cultures influenced by the Silk Road and the scientific knowledge disseminated along its vast stretch across the globe.

In recognition of the evolving circumstances, the 6th Silk Road Academic Studies Symposium will be conducted using a hybrid method, allowing participants to engage both online and face- to-face.
